144   Geo V Military Medal (MM) plus War & Victory with Belgium Medal Militaire 2nd Class boxed 27562, Sgt AA Thompson, 94/Coy MGC (very slight official correction to the name on the MM). The Belgium MM has its certificate & was sent to 4 Thomas Trc. Blaydon, N/Castle. The MM was awarded July 11th 1917 & the Belgium Medal August 4th 1917. He served with the NER Northd Fus 94 Coy, 31st Battn MGC. He was with the N E Railway before the war & was born at Crook. Presented with a full Hunter gold plated pocket watch which is included. The lot also includes a 9ct watch fob & a newspaper testimonial. A testimonial from Lt Col Pratt states that he was commissioned in 1918 as a pilot in the Royal Flying Corp. GVF. £500.00 £940.00

146   Group of four mounted on card, DFC, 1939-45 & Air Crew Europe Stars plus War Medal, attributed to F/O Ross James (42062) 102 Squad RAF. DFC LG 22/08/1941, he died 03/09/1941 flying with 35 Squad & is buried in Berlin, it appears that the remainder of his crew bailed out. He served alongside L Cheshire VC whilst in 102 Squad. Includes much squadron research & additional material, EF. £2000.00 N/S
147   Group of four plus plaque. Plaque named to William Harold Hare, 1914-15 Trio Pte/A Cpl 15586 Pte W H Hare S Staffs Rgt, Military Medal (MM) 45901 Cpl W H Hare 20th Durham LI. Includes commendation:- 'Your gallant conduct during the attack on the Dammstrasse June 7th 1917. You were of great assistance to your company CO, you showed great courage throughout' etc. The commendation is addressed to his wife in Erdington, Birmingham & dated 24/7/17. It almost certainly appertains to the award of the MM, photograph included. He died 25/07/17, GVF. £900.00 £900.00

149   Group of three - DCM Distinguished Conduct Medal, Geo V DCM G-42558 Sgt J W Catchpole 4/R/Fus, BWM & Victory GS 42558 Pte J W Catchpole R Fus. Citation for gallantry during the defence of Havrincourt 18th Sept 1918. The enemy attacked & penetrated our front line & he lead his platoon up a trench & counter attacked, the front line was restored & 30 of the enemy captured. In the attack North of Solesmes 23/Oct/1918 he again showed marked courage in capturing a hostile machine gun & its team with the help of two of his men. Medal card copy shows these to be his only entitlements. With extensive research. VF. £800.00 £1050.00
150   Group of three - MC Military Cross un-named (Salonika), BWM & Victory Capt R J Rogers with MID, MC gazetted 04/10/1919. Citation for conspicuous gallantry & devotion to duty whilst Battalion Signalling officer during operations near to Foret De Mormal 04/08/11/1918. He opened up communications under difficult circumstances & also commanded with skill & gallantry the battalions fighting headquarters. He served with the RN Fusiliers from 01/01/1916 to 08/11/19 making Act/Captain & with the Pioneer Corp WWII as temp Major &was wounded in an attack on Dolap Farm Wood. He served in the Motorised Machine Gun Corp & the MM was gazetted 29/03/1919, it was for service in Mesopotamia (Iraq), may have previously served in the RNAS, VF. £450.00 £640.00

Born 09/07/1894, 2nd Lieut in Northd Fus 19/07/16, Act Captain & Adjutant 1st/2nd Northd Fus 26/08/1917, MC gazetted 28/07/1918. Citation Throughout days of fighting this officers coolness & resource enabled the front line to be reinforced etc. 24/08/1939 Mobilised & served as Captain in the Northd Fus, 05/07/1948 enlisted as Major in RN Fus, lived at West Kirby, Cheshire. Commission document dated 28th Sept 1917 MGC, officers blue service book, identity card, six photographs from L/Cpl to 2nd Lieut, eight camp photos, two photos at 29th Div Memorial 7th June 1925, five trench maps Cambria, Passchendale & Gouzeacourt etc. One map of 29th Div march into Germany & one Times newspaper MID listed.
