Group of five - Distinguished Flying Cross (cased) dated 1943 with log book to F/Lt. Charles Bowmer Russel & 1939/45, Italy, A.C.E with War Medal served 1942 Coastal Command 5x operational sweeps (no Atlantic Star). Flying Halifax MK1 from Linton on Ouse, 78 squadron. He did nearly 40 more 'ops' visiting many of the usual targets. His aircraft was shot down 10/11th August 1943. He spent the rest of the War in Stalag Luft 3 - the 'Great Escape' camp. He was P.O.W 2026. The lot includes his P.O.W ID disc. A good D.F.C group. D.F.C EF, Stars GVF, unmounted.
