Charles Whiting Beaufort House, Strand. Embossed essay of bust facing left on grey-purple background showing a fraction of the word 'London' below; mounted on sheet of foolscap paper with the inscription written on reverse 'at Sixpence a Quire of 24 sheets or One Farthing for sheet'. The sheet has been folded to show the essay to best advantage. A photograph of a second example has been hinged alongside. Rare. Provenance: Colonel A S Bates, December 1934 £4000 to 5000 N/S
