RUSSIAN LEVANT 1913 reg envelope to Germany bearing Levant 2½p on 25k green & purple (Yv 171) and 3½p on 35k lilac & green (Yv 172), tied by 'Constantinople Ropit Post Office' d/stamp, with reg label and Maniz arrival on reverse. £50 to 60 N/S

1858-1995 neatly presented written up collection of M & U stamps & postal history in four Simplex albums. Volume 1 has a really fine range of early issues from SG.1 (Cat. £1300), SG.2, 5, 6, & 7 all FU (Cat. £870), further 19thC issues in depth incl. 1863 5k stamp for St. Petersburg (Cat. £650), different printings, wmks, paper variations are noted making it easy to identify issues. 20thC has strong selections with defins & commems incl. Charity issues with colour & perf variations, currency stamps in blocks + further issues to 1923. Volume 2 has a range of interesting & well described covers & cards, 1905 onwards with strength in the WWI period with many censor & postal markings & cachets. There are some rarely seen propaganda opts for the Abdication of Czar Nicholas in 1917 & un-official propaganda political opts of the Russian Federation on stamps in blocks of four. Volume 3 is full of UM issues covering 1977-87 with M/Sheets & sheetlets + Moldovia period 1922-25. Volume 4 contains Russian PO's Abroad - strength being in China & the Turkish Empire. Items of note incl. 1913 The Romanov issue Surcharged set M, SG.186/200 (Cat. £225), various opts on the 50th Anniv of the Russian Co. of Steam Shipping incl. full sets for use at Mount Athos & Jerusalem.
